Celebration of the Chinese New Year at Don Bosco Technical School Kep

Kep Province Cambodia – Chinese New Year is widely recognized as one of the most important traditional festivals, celebrated annually in China in accordance with long-standing customs and cultural heritage. In Cambodia, this festival is mainly observed by people of Chinese descent, particularly through ancestral offerings and family gatherings to honor their forebears and pray for peace and prosperity in the new year.

On the morning of February 17, 2025, DonBosco Technical School Kep organized a Chinese New Year offering ceremony with the participation of Father Ly Samnang, the school director, teachers, and many students. The event was arranged to allow students of Chinese ancestry to light incense, offer prayers, and pay respect to their ancestors, as the school does not officially close for this occasion since Chinese New Year is not a Cambodian national holiday.

At the conclusion of the program, Father Ly Samnang presented gifts to his students in celebration of the Chinese New Year, expressing his love and care while encouraging young men and women to continue their studies diligently and preserve this meaningful cultural tradition for future generations.
