Funding
Don Bosco Kep, an initiative of the Don Bosco Foundation of Cambodia International (DBFC-OI), stands as a non-profit and non-governmental entity. As a charitable organization under the auspices of the Salesian Order of Don Bosco, its mission is dedicated to empowering Cambodian youth. This includes individuals from rural and indigenous backgrounds, those facing physical challenges, and young workers, by providing them with vocational training and an associate degree. This endeavor is in collaboration with the Royal Ministry of Labour, ensuring that these young individuals are well-prepared to enter the workforce, thereby enhancing the quality of life for themselves, their families, and their communities.
We warmly invite the families of our students, alongside organizations, businesses, governmental entities, and philanthropic individuals, to consider contributing to our school. Your generous donations are pivotal in sustaining essential services such as electricity, internet connectivity, water supply, waste management, and the provision of educational resources for our workshops. Your support is invaluable in enriching the educational experience we offer.
Don Bosco Kep is open to international students, especially from neighbouring Asian countries and indigenous communities.
In order to open opportunities for young Asian indigenous peoples, we would require the support of donors that would make it possible. For the time being, what is possible, is this proposal:
- Self supporting international trips and immigration: We encourage Asian young indigenous people to look for self supporting funds to cover international trips from their countries to Cambodia and back and the payment for immigration duties. In this field, partner organizations would be a great support, especially in the countries of the applicants.
- Hospitality, meals and academic material at Don Bosco Kep: In this field, Don Bosco Kep will pursue the funding through donors able to cover expenses such as hospitality, meals and academic material for the students.
Requirements for application:
Cambodian young people applying to Don Bosco Kep, should fulfil the following conditions:
- 12th grade in order to get the associate degree certificate validated by the Royal Ministry of Labour and that will allow you to apply for further superior studies in Cambodia.
- Students who failed the national exam at 12th grade can apply too. However, in order to get the associate degree certificate, they must look to complete the national exam before conclusion of their cycle of studies at Don Bosco.
- Young people who suspended education before 12th grade, can apply for available short courses or trainings within TVET. Please visit the page Short Courses, workshops, seminars, reatrets.
- In order to evaluate the attitude and profile of the student applying for a particular department, the manager can celebrate an interview with the student. It is important to note that Don Bosco supports young people from vulnerable communities and that the youth should have the intelectual capacities to fulfil a training program.
During the planning and organization of short courses, seminars and other activities, requirements would be according to the purposes and goals of those programs.
For the Technical School four faculties, the following requirements in the selection of foreign students should apply:
- Young people within the range of 17 to 22 years old.
- Young people who hold a certificate of conclusion of high school in their original country.
- At least B1 English (Intermediate).
- Presentation by a local organization such as the indigenous council, an indigenous organization, NGO, government department, school or any other convenient organization that would provide a careful recommendation on the academics and mental capacities of the candidate.
- If there is an organization supporting the international trips of the candidate, the immigration duties (passport and student visa) and even other contributions, it is important to have an acknowledgement of this. If the student is covering their own expenses, it should be also acknowledged in such a way that we could look for support.
- The candidates that are accepted to travel to Cambodia in order to follow a two years technical course, must come three months before the start of the course, which is in January. The accepted candidate should be at Don Bosco Kep by October in order to proceed with a Khmer language course. The candidate should be aware that the studies will be primarily in that language and that English would be a supporting language.
- The candidate should apply for a Cambodian student visa.
