🌿 Spirit of the Festival

This year’s festival honors the life and spirit of Blessed Ceferino Namuncurá, a Mapuche youth from Argentina and student of Don Bosco. He lived with deep faith and cultural pride, passed away in Rome in 1905, and was beatified in 2007. Today, he stands as a symbol of hope for Indigenous Peoples worldwide.

The theme “Anchored in Hope on Our Indigenous Territories” reminds us that ancestral lands are places of life, memory, and resilience. They carry languages, traditions, songs, and stories. To be anchored in hope means to believe in a peaceful future rooted in respect for nature, elders, ancestral wisdom, and unity among all peoples.
