Don Bosco Technical School and the Brother Sun Scholarship for Rural and Indigenous Children and Youth of Kep Province, Cambodia – also known as Don Bosco Kep or Don Bosco Hatrans – is a charitable institution belonging to the Don Bosco Foundation of Cambodia (DBFC). As a technical school, it operates under DBFC-OI and the Royal Ministry of Labour. As a scholarship program for children and teenagers, it functions under DBFC as a local NGO.
The institution was inaugurated in October 2011 by Fr. Albeiro Rodas, who was in charge of the project, together with Fr. John Visser, representative of DBFC and rector of Don Bosco Technical School in Sihanoukville. It was established on land acquired in 1994 by DBFC in Kep (which at that time was still a district of Kampot Province), thanks to the support of international donors such as Mr. Gerard van Hal. From his contribution came the name “Don Bosco Hatrans.”
In 2000, a tailoring program was opened for local girls, mostly from the Cham Village. In 2005, Fr. Leonardo Ochoa led the construction of a youth center (the Don Rua Building) and the Salesian House. Later, in 2011, Fr. Albeiro Rodas oversaw the foundation of the Technical School and the continuation of the Don Bosco Children Fund as the “Don Bosco Brother Sun Program.” This initiative honors the integration of education for new generations with care for Mother Earth, interreligious dialogue, communal living, and respect for ancestral wisdom, inspired by the Canticle of Brother Sun of Saint Francis of Assisi.
Don Bosco Kep supports Cambodian children and youth from rural and Indigenous families and communities, with special attention to orphans, abandoned children, and those at risk of exploitation or abuse. Its mission is to ensure that young people can continue their education and build a future with better opportunities.
The work of Don Bosco Kep is organized into two main projects:
- Technical School: Offers Associate Degree programs for young people, as well as vocational training for those who have left school and need practical skills through short courses.
- Children’s Fund: Provides support to children from Kep, Kampot, Takeo, Kompung Speu, Ratanakiri, and Oddar Meanchey. It also includes the Sun Children Residence, located on the Don Bosco Kep campus, which houses students aged 11 to 18.

Sending Materials
A technical school needs a lot materials to guarantee training for the students. You can send us secondhand material, making sure it is useful.
Some of our needs are:
- Books / Digital Material.
- Computers / Tablets / Pay for the Internet of the school.
- Projectors / Screens.
- Parts for maintenance of electrical, water and solar systems.
- Utensils for school canteen.
- Vehicles for children and youth transport.
- Sponsor the construction of classrooms in Kep, Kampot, Takeo, Kompung Speu, Ratanakiri and Udong Meanchey.
- Sponsor a dormitory for the students’ residence.
- Sponsor local and international teacher volunteers.
