Kep Province Cambodia __ Don Bosco Technical School in Kep Province organized a workshop about the voices of ethnic minorities, which took place on May 4, 2026.
The program “Voices of Ethnic Minorities” is an initiative that helps promote the culture, traditions, ways of living, and the protection of the original heritage of indigenous peoples around the world.
Mr. Father Ly Samnang, Director of Don Bosco Technical School in Kep Province, stated that the creation of the Voices of Ethnic Minorities program is not only for the minorities living in Cambodia, but also for indigenous minorities all around the world.
He further added that the loss of indigenous languages as well as traditional customs in the present time has raised serious long-term concerns. Some of these issues stem from neglect by local authorities, deforestation that destroys the cultural roots, and discrimination against indigenous peoples in their participation in society.
Voices of Ethnic Minorities aims to elevate indigenous culture both within and beyond Cambodia. The program included participation from teachers, students, and elders representing various minority groups such as Krung, Tampuan, Jarai, Lun, Prao, Kui, Kavet, and Kachok. It also welcomed the involvement of indigenous representatives from East Timor.
For the Voices of Ethnic Minorities program held at Don Bosco Technical School in Kep Province, the goal was to help promote traditions, customs, and languages that are gradually being lost due to discrimination, while also protecting the original heritage passed down by ancestors to future generations of indigenous minorities.
