In the spirit of promoting culture and strengthening solidarity within the academic community, Don Bosco Technical School in Kep Province has announced the organization of the “Don Bosco Songkran” event. The celebration will take place on April 9, 2026, on the school campus.

This meaningful event will see enthusiastic participation from the management, teachers, staff, and students across all departments. The primary objective of organizing this program is to celebrate the Khmer New Year, the largest national festival of the year, while providing an opportunity for all members of the Don Bosco family to build intimacy and gain a deeper understanding of the value of Khmer traditions and customs.

The “Don Bosco Songkran” program will feature a diverse range of unique activities, including traditional Khmer games such as Angkunh (nut-tossing), Chhoung (ritual scarf throwing), Teanh Prot (tug-of-war), Leak Kanseng (hiding the towel), and many others. Additionally, there will be traditional dancing—including the Ramvong, Ramkbach, and Saravan—as well as cultural displays, Songkran-style decorations around the campus, and artistic performances by students to create a joyful atmosphere in accordance with Khmer national traditions.

It should also be noted that this arrangement will be carried out in a refined manner, with traditional decorations to enhance the beauty and atmosphere, making it feel more like an authentic Khmer New Year celebration. The Khmer New Year festival is an important traditional ceremony, celebrated in April for three days to welcome the new year. On this occasion, people perform religious rituals, go to the pagoda, pray, and wash Buddha statues to ask for peace and happiness. There are also many traditional games and joyful activities. The New Year is a time for families to gather and preserve Khmer cultural traditions.
